I’m not really sure where I should begin here. I guess we should go way back the beginning, last Wednesday. I’m in the office sitting at my desk eating lunch and making my daily rounds through facebook, flickr and twitter. I take a look at my twitter favorites page. These tweets range from the the funny to the mundane to the completely absurd but they all have one thing in common. They amuse me. I thought it was a shame that people were out there living life and not even knowing what they are missing out on. Then it hit me! It is my duty to spread the joy through cross stitch.

You gave me the best mixtape…

When I started my etsy store I planned to stitch lyrics to Butch Walker’s mixtape. When I saw my suggestion for “Your Message Here” in action, I finally decided how I wanted to stitch it. I posted the finished version on flickr about two weeks ago.
It was so popular that it made it into flickr’s Explore which is pretty exciting for me since the only photos previously “explored” were photos of famous people. Once I made Explore I thought it was about time I put it in my store.
It ended up being my first sale today...even more exciting than Explore.

Whenever I start a blog, which is a countless number of times at this point, I’m always at a loss on how to start things off. Jumping right into things feels awkward and writing an intro type post is just boring. So what’s a girl to do? Well, thankfully Beefranck answered that for me today. I don’t even have to do anything other than point you in the direction of mrxstitch.com where you will see that i inspired a stitchgasm with my Butch Walker cross stitch portrait. Thanks so much Beefranck. I’ve been secretly coveting a stitchgasm feature since I discovered the blog.
For those who are interested I’ll be posting about this piece and my process (or lack thereof ) within the next few days.

Back in September before I discovered the awesomeness of Something’s Hiding in Here, Shauna and Stephen started part one of their ”Your Message Here” project. I love this project. It just makes me so happy reading the random messages. How can you not smile if you walked past a sign that said “I wish I was a dinosaur”? When part two of the project was announced I was all over it. I commented my message suggestion. Then I waited. And waited. Then just three days before it was all over…
